Routine 2,0 | The Train Flies Between Hills and Rocks
In collaboration with the Jewish Institutions for the Blind
Established in 1902, the Jewish Institute for the Blind serves the blind and partially sighted from all across Israel, striving to instill in them the confidence and skills to become helpful members of society and lead self-dependent, rich social and community life.
Tapping into the elaborate planning that goes into every activity at JIB, musicians Ido Akov, Maayan James initiated improvisation-based activities that would allow the students to experience the unknown via various objects scattered around the room, musical instruments, or simply one’s voice. In the process, they discovered that improvisation is not only a means to foster dialogue and interactions, but also a means to navigate through space and get to know it.
The public is invited to the charming JIB garden, which will be transformed into a musical-improvisational space of voices and sounds from inside the building and from the busy street outside it, bringing together personal inner worlds with an external, urban and chaotic world.
