Following Menash

Menash (Menashe) Eliyahu was a mythological figure in the wholesale market, working there for 55 years – from the age of 10 to his last day. Famous for his kind heart and charity, he also used to swear a lot, but all in good spirit: “Menash’s curse words were considered a blessing” muse those who were close to him.

Chef and cultural scholar Rotem Green and artist Sharon Glazberg created a performative installation, inspired by Menashe and in collaboration with Ezra (Ozi) Salach, his family and other colleagues at the wholesale market. We are invited to visit the market for a series of rituals, and discover the place through the story of Menash, the “king of the market.”
