Old and new friends, dear audience
We are thrilled to announce that the 59th Israel Festival, postponed due to Covid-19, will take place in compliance with the Purple Badge guidelines on September 3-12, 2020. Curated before the global pandemic, the program features artistic interventions in the public space and the community, artist talks and professional conferences that look at the place and role of culture in a changing reality. The scheduled shows touch on the some of the issues that we are all facing these days as a society – community, encounters, touching, empathy, emergency and evacuation situations, individualism and technology, agism, acceptance of the other and more. We believe that with the return to operation, the expression of these values through live art is important and inspiring as always, and relevant and poignant than ever before. The Israel Festival welcomes the operational and financial outline agreed in the meeting between the ministers of culture and finance, which allows a safe return to cultural activities in Jerusalem and across Israel. We are proud to contribute to strengthening the community of creatives and the cultural sector and help restore the social and financial resilience of the residents of this city. The updated and full artistic program will be published on August.
